It is amazing how many decisions we make or beliefs we hold that are based on false premises. At TRF we are taking some time to explode some of the common myths that can negatively affect our lives. The fact is you and I have grown up being taught many things we believed were true but upon further study we find them to be nothing more than fanciful myths. The tragedy is that many of these myths or legends if believed are very destructive to our lives. Last week we debunked the myth “It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere”. On the outside this sounds so good, so open-minded, so tolerant, so un-prejudicial, so politically correct. Truth is relative – you believe what you want to believe and I will believe what I want to believe. The fact is you can be sincere about what you believe but be sincerely wrong. It does matter what you believe because there are many false beliefs in the world and those false beliefs are the root causes of our emotional problems and unhappiness. Truth has been established by God and that truth is unchanging. Therefore it is imperative that I build my life on the foundation of God’s truth to experience the peace and fulfillment that God wants me to have in my life. Check out my message on this from last week and let me know what you think. Is it true that it really doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere or does the belief structure you hold in your life make a difference? This week we are going to debunk another common myth. It goes like this: No matter how hard I try “I can never change”. Have you ever felt that way or been told that? This week we are going to explore the fascinating Biblical story about ‘The Prodigal Son’ that illustrates the process that God uses to bring about changes in our lives. We will look are the 5 phases of change and what we need to do to bring about needed change in our lives. Listen in and tell me what you think!
Blessings,
Pastor Tom
